THE PLANE IN TROUBLE

Fifteen minutes into the flight from Kansas City to Toronto, the captain announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, one of our engines has failed. There is nothing to worry about. Our flight will take an hour longer than scheduled, but we still have three engines left."

Thirty minutes later the captain announced, "One more engine has failed and the flight will take an additional two hours. But don't worry ... we can fly just fine on two engines."

An hour later the captain announced, "One more engine has failed and our arrival will be delayed another three hours. But don't worry ... we still have one engine left."

A young child passenger turned to his mother in the next seat and remarked, "If we lose one more engine, we'll be up here all day!"

BATS
Two vampire bats wake up in the middle of the night, thirsty for blood.

One says, "Let's fly out of the cave and get some blood."

"We're new here," says the second one. "It's dark out, and we don't know where to look. We'd better wait until the other bats go with us."

The first bat replies, "Who needs them? I can find some blood somewhere." He flies out of the cave. When he returns, he is covered with blood.

The second bat says excitedly, "Where did you get the blood?"

The first bat takes his buddy to the mouth of the cave. Pointing into the night, he asks, "See that black building over there?"

"Yes," the other bat answers.

"Well," says the first bat, "I didn't."

A Valentine's Day Short Story.

Once upon a time in a far off land, long, long ago, there lived a little mouse named Henry.
Henry had many friends. He happily visited his friends throughout the weeks. He was there to help any little mouse who needed help.
He would bake cookies, deliver meals, visit friends, and give support in any and every way that he could.
One year, however, in early February, Henry was hurrying along through the snow when he took a terrible fall.
The fall caused Henry to break his little foot and his doctor told Henry he would have to stay in bed for two weeks.
Henry was miserable; he didn't know what to do. How could he make Valentine's cards, bake cupcakes, and send gifts to everyone when he had to stay in bed?
Henry wiped his little mouse eyes. What was he to do?
Just as Henry began to cry, he heard a knock at the door. The door opened. In walked one friend, then another, until his bedroom was filled with guests. Each little mouse brought a card, flower, cake, candy, and a hug.
They asked, "why are you crying?"
Henry explained that this year he would have to stay in bed on Valentine's Day.

"Why Henry, you make every day Valentine's Day!" His friends exclaimed.
"You give of your love throughout the year. Now it's our turn! It's your gift to us to be able to give back to you!"

CAN     /        CAN'T

1. Su infinitivo NUNCA va precedido de TO como los verbos comunes (to go, to read, to play, etc).
2. En las formas negativa e interrogativa se comportan como el verbo auxiliar to be que ya has aprendido.
3. No toman la s en la tercera persona del singular del presente (he, she, it).
4. Siempre les sigue un VERBO EN INFINITIVO SIN  TO  .
EL VERBO DEFECTIVO QUE ESTAS ESTUDIANDO EN ESTA UNIDAD ES EL VERBO CAN. VEAMOS ...
 He CAN play tennis
 CAN he play tennis?
He CAN'T play tennis  =  He CANNOT play tennis
 Yes, she CAN
 No, she CAN'T
